Cruyff Foundation Coaches

Heroes of the Cruyff Courts is led by Cruyff Foundation Coaches. These are professionals (e.g., community sports coaches or youth workers) in the neighbourhood who are able to independently run the project with youngsters from their community. To support this, we offer a training programme to become a Cruyff Foundation Coach. You can find an overview of the courses on this page. In most cases, a Cruyff Foundation Coach is someone who is active within a local organisation in the neighbourhood or at a sports club.

BECOME A CRUYFF FOUNDATION COACH

To become a Cruyff Foundation Coach, you must complete the Cruyffian Course. This course is designed for local community sports coaches or youth workers who are active at a Cruyff Court in their neighbourhood or at a Special Cruyff Court at an institution. During the course, you will learn how to apply the Cruyffian mindset, for example to build a team from a group of youngsters, take on a coaching role, and engage youngsters with the Cruyff Court for a longer period of time. Other topics covered during the course include:

  • Coaching and Leadership: In addition to his outstanding career as a football player, Johan Cruyff was also known as a phenomenal coach. You will learn what made him so special, which coaching styles he used, and how you can apply these coaching styles yourself.
  • The 14 Rules of Johan Cruyff: Johan Cruyff’s philosophy is captured in 14 rules. You will learn about Cruyff’s philosophy and how you can apply these principles more broadly.
  • Team Dynamics: Johan Cruyff believed the team was more important than the individual and therefore paid great attention to team dynamics. You will learn how to apply this yourself in different situations and with different groups.

After successfully completing the Cruyffian Course, you will receive a certificate. From that moment on, you can start working at the Cruyff Court in your municipality with Heroes of the Cruyff Courts to empower youngsters.

WHAT WE OFFER:

WHAT WE ASK:
  • Participation in the Cruyff Foundation Coach Course
  • Active participation in the Cruyff Foundation Community app group, including organising a Heroes of the Cruyff Court project and FC STRAAT
  • Quarterly (online) contact with your Cruyff Foundation account manager
  • Organising activities on the Cruyff Court, in line with the Cruyff Foundation values and Johan Cruijff’s 14 Rules
  • Completing the annual monitoring questionnaire
  • Acting as a point of contact for the Cruyff Foundation and connecting us with other stakeholders around the Cruyff Court
