Basic-Fit, the Municipality of Eindhoven and the Cruyff Foundation have officially opened a new outdoor fitness zone at Cruyff Court Tongelre in Eindhoven. This is the first of five Cruyff Courts set to receive new fitness facilities, encouraging young people and local residents to stay active, exercise and enjoy sports together.

The new fitnesszone offers children, youngsters and adults a free place to exercise in their own neighbourhood. Alongside the existing opportunities for sports at the Cruyff Court, visitors can now also work on their strength, fitness and mobility outdoors.
Erica van Vonderen-Hahn, CCO bij Basic-Fit: “We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be active. Together with the Cruyff Foundation, we’re building on six years of partnership by renovating outdoor sports courts that make different types of exercise accessible, inviting and part of everyday life. By bringing sports facilities closer to people’s homes and making them accessible to everyone, we hope to inspire them to stay active.”

Soufiane Touzani joines the opening
By adding fitness facilities, we are creating even more opportunities for people in the neighbourhood to get moving. The fitnesszone at Cruyff Court Tongelre is freely accessible and allows visitors to exercise independently, at their own pace. It also makes the existing sports facility suitable for a wider range of activities and age groups.
Cruyff Foundation ambassador Soufiane Touzani joined us to celebrate the opening in Eindhoven. The programme also included a sports clinic by Basic-Fit and an FC STRAAT tournament on the Cruyff Court.

More opportunities to move
Cruyff Court Tongelre is the first of five locations that will receive new fitness facilities in the coming months.
The facilities will differ from location to location, depending on the available space and the needs of the local community. The aim is to make exercise more accessible and give more people the opportunity to be active close to home.
The initiative is part of the partnership between Basic-Fit and the Cruyff Foundation, which was established in 2020. By combining the Cruyff Foundation’s expertise in creating accessible sports facilities with Basic-Fit’s fitness expertise, both organisations are committed to creating more opportunities for people to stay active and enjoy sports in their local communities.
