Coaches and partners from across the UK came together at Anfield for the very first Cruyff Foundation Coach Awards. It was an afternoon to celebrate the people who dedicate their time and energy to creating sporting opportunities for children and youngsters in their communities.
The programme was hosted by Debby Gerritsen, who welcomed everyone and kicked off the afternoon. Simon Wood (Project Manager) looked back at the Foundation's work in the UK and highlighted some of the achievements from 2026. Ivo Tiemessen (Lead Creating Space), then shared more about the Foundation's plans for the coming years and the opportunities this will bring for coaches across the UK.
A highlight of the afternoon was the Q&A with Cruyff Foundation Ambassador and Liverpool legend Sander Westerveld, who shared his experiences and insights with the audience.

A special day at Anfield
Of course, no visit to Anfield would be complete without a look behind the scenes. After the awards, everyone had the opportunity to explore the iconic stadium on a guided tour, led by Cruyff Foundation Ambassador and Liverpool legend Sander Westerveld.
The first UK Coach Awards were a great opportunity to bring our coaches and partners together, share experiences and celebrate their work across the UK. A big thank you to all our coaches, volunteers, nominees and partners for their continued dedication. We look forward to what we can achieve together in the years ahead!
