Children with disabilities enjoyed a unique experience in nature thanks to the Cruyff Foundation and the Barça Foundation, the project’s main partner.

On April 25th, coinciding with Johan Cruyff’s birthday, the Cruyff Court in Vallfogona de Riucorb hosted the first mountain sports day organised by the Cruyff Foundation. A group of children with disabilities took part in the event, enjoying a transformative experience in the mountains through sports adapted to each participant’s abilities.

The event was supported by the Barça Foundation, as the project’s main partner, and the collaboration of the Asociació Rodamunt and the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC). The main objective of the event was to offer an inclusive sporting experience in natural environments, promoting the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of young people.

Participants were able to explore new skills and enjoy the surroundings through activities such as hiking, the use of joëlettes, climbing and sports coordination exercises.

The event took place in Vallfogona de Riucorb, a town deeply committed to the memory of Johan Cruyff. It is worth noting that this locality was the first to name a street after him in 2016 and that, since 2023, it has had a Cruyff Court which serves as a meeting point for the community.

Cruyff Impulsa

The Cruyff Impulsa project, led by the Cruyff Foundation with the Barça Foundation as its main partner, is a social transformation initiative in Catalonia that seeks to guarantee the right to sport and improve the quality of life of vulnerable children and young people, with a particular focus on those with physical or mental disabilities.

Through a comprehensive approach combining inclusive sporting activities, such as the “Salid y disfrutad 6vs6” tournament and adapted sports days, specialised training programmes for coaches and young people, and social awareness campaigns, the project aims to reach 4,000 beneficiaries annually across 25 municipalities. The goal is to remove the barriers to accessibility and training that prevent children facing exclusion or with functional diversity from enjoying the physical and emotional benefits of physical exercise on an equal basis.
