With the words “Salid y disfrutad” of Johan Cruyff, Frenkie entered the stage of the Dutch "Voetbalgala". And that joy we've certainly seen this season! Tonight Frenkie received the Johan Cruyff Award.
During the Voetbalgala, Talent of the Year Frenkie de Jong was the first to receive an award. Cruyff Foundation ambassador Wim Jonk handed over the Johan Cruyff Award to the new Talent of the Year. "Your a talent - that's for sure. Because you're compared with the big man, Johan Cruyff," said Jonk.
14 rules of Johan Cruyff
Jonk was part of the Talent of the Year jury, who judged the talents of the Dutch eredivisie on 14 criteria, based on the 14 rules of Johan Cruyff. Others in the jury were Jaap Stam, Kenneth Perez, Dick Advocaat, Frank Rijkaard, Youri Mulder, Willy Dullens, Erik ten Hag, Mark van Bommel, Danny Buijs, John van den Brom, Pierre van Hooijdonk, John van 't Schip and Willem van Hanegem.
Cruyff Court Frenkie de Jong
Frenkie de Jong didn't only receive the special Johan Cruyff statue. We will also give him his very own Cruyff Court on a location of his choice, thanks to the players of the Dutch Postcode Lottery.
