On Sunday 15 November 2026, legends of AFC Ajax and FC Barcelona will come together at the Johan Cruijff ArenA for the Legacy Match. The special match celebrates Johan Cruyff and his lasting impact on both clubs and the generations that follow in his footsteps. We’re proud that the proceeds from this match will go to the Cruyff Foundation.
Among those who have confirmed their participation are Patrick Kluivert, Frank and Ronald de Boer, Jari Litmanen and Richard Witschge, all of whom played for both Ajax and FC Barcelona. Gerald Vanenburg, Edwin van der Sar, Siem de Jong and Jan Vertonghen will also take part. More names will be announced in the coming weeks.
A legacy that continues to inspire
Johan Cruyff helped shape the DNA of both Ajax and FC Barcelona. As a player and manager, he left a lasting mark on both clubs. In Amsterdam, the stadium bears his name, while in Barcelona, the Estadi Johan Cruyff is located at the club’s training complex.
Ten years after his passing, his ideas remain visible on and off the football pitch. His vision for football, talent development and giving youngsters opportunities continues to inspire new generations of players and coaches.

Proceeds to benefit the Johan Cruyff Foundation
The proceeds from the Legacy Match will go to the Cruyff Foundation. Johan Cruyff founded the Foundation in 1997, driven by his belief that every child should have the space to be active and enjoy sport.
We continue to carry his vision forward. Through Cruyff Courts and our sports programmes, we give children and young people around the world the opportunity to play sports, have fun and develop their skills. This is especially important for children who do not have access to these opportunities by default.
The Legacy Match is therefore not only a tribute to Johan, but also helps carry forward what he believed in: creating space for the next generation.
