Yesterday, exactly two years after the attacks in Brussels and the passing away of Johan Cruyff two days later, the Cruyff Court Molenbeek was officially opened.
This positive sound is so important for this specific community. With the Cruyff Court the children now have a safe place to play sports. Together with initiators Unico van Kooten and Ahmed Larouz of PlayandPeace and the municipality of Molenbeek, we want to connect young people in Molenbeek through sports and themes like respect, team spirit, integration and self-development.
The Cruyff Court was officially opened by the Dutch and Belgian Ministers of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok and Didier Reynders.
The Cruyff Court Molenbeek was realized because of the tenacity and effort of Unico and Ahmed. They brought together many partners to realize their dream: the realization of a Cruyff Court. These parties, especially the several Rotary clubs, municipality of Molenbeek, Molenbeek Sports and the Cruyff Foundation together with her partners, are proud of the implementation of this Cruyff Court and happy that children have the ability to play safely on this new Cruyff Court.
