The Special Cruyff Court at Cheshire Hall School has officially opened. A place where pupils can play sports, have fun and discover new things together.

Moving together
After the official opening, it was time for a match, giving the pupils the opportunity to play sports together and show their skills.
Cheshire Hall School opened in summer 2025 and provides education and support to children and youngsters aged 8 to 16 with special educational needs. The Cruyff Court gives pupils extra space to play sports and be active in a way that suits them. Paul Lyons, Head Teacher of Cheshire Hall School, said:
“The Court is an extension of our inspiring learning environment, creating opportunities for pupils to develop physically, socially and emotionally.”

Niels Meijer, Director of the Cruyff Foundation, also highlights the importance of a place like this:
“A Cruyff Court gives children with special needs a space to play, be active and enjoy sport together. At Cheshire Hall School, this Court gives children the opportunity to take part in sport in a way that suits them, while having fun and developing new skills. We are proud to have realised this Special Cruyff Court together with the Witherslack Group.”

All projects have been made possible thanks to funds raised by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, who have now contributed more than £4 million to the Cruyff Foundation’s work in the UK.
