The Dutch National Postcode Lottery (“Postcode Loterij” in Dutch) was founded in 1989 to support charities that work towards a fair and green world. Today, 2.9 million households play the lottery. Participants have a chance of winning hundreds of thousands of prizes every month, and annually support 103 charitable organisations with half of the price of their lottery ticket. Since the founding of the Postcode Loterij, more than 5.4 billion euro has been donated to man and nature.

Together with the BankGiro Loterij and the VriendenLoterij, the Postcode Loterij is part of the Dutch National Charity Lotteries (“Goede Doelen Loterijen”) Holding. The format of the Postcode Loterij is also active in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Germany. Together with the lotteries in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany, the Goede Doelen Loterijen are the third largest private charity sponsors in the world.

Since 1998, the Nationale Postcode Loterij has been a partner of the Cruyff Foundation. Thanks to the contributions of the Postcode Loterij, the Cruyff Foundation can create space for children around the world.

In 2020, the Cruyff Foundation was awarded the ‘extra draw’ during the Good Money (“Goed Geld”) Gala. The Cruyff Foundation will use this

donation to realise three Cruyff Courts on Lesbos and Samos, together with Movement on the Ground. The Cruyff Courts and the activities on it are accessible to the children in refugee camps and the local population, building a bridge between the different inhabitants of the Greek islands.

In 2020, we had the privilege of receiving a check in the amount of €1,350,000, which was partly made possible by the participants of the Nationale Postcode Loterij. This amount will enable us to continue the legacy of Johan Cruijff and to boost our projects Cruyff Courts, Schoolyard14 and disabled sport with wonderful developments in the coming year!
