Today, the Foundation's work is more relevant to society than ever. Children spend more time in front of a TV or computer screen, spend less time playing outside together, and the world is becoming more individualistic while obesity is on the rise.

Many children are getting less exercise than what is needed to maintain a healthy body and ensure good motor skills and psychosocial development. In recent years, only 30% of children between the ages of four and eleven have met the Dutch Standard of Healthy Activity (NNGB)! This standard stipulates a total of one hour of sport, play, and cycling per day. 1

Through Cruyff Courts, Schoolyard14, and sports projects for children with a disability, we want to motivate children to get active. We are also involved in various initiatives together with partners and partner foundations that help to get children active.

  1. ‘De Nederlandse Norm Gezond Bewegen’ (Dutch Standard of Healthy Activity) was compiled in 1998 by VU University Amsterdam, Maastricht University, University of Groningen, Utrecht University, The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), The Netherlands Organisation for applied scientific research (TNO), and the Netherlands umbrella organisation for sports NOC*NSF.
