Kick-off from Johan Cruyff

As a small country like the Netherlands you always have to be more creative to make the difference with the rest of the world. That is what we’ve always done in the past. Because if you didn’t,  nobody would see you. That attitude you also see back in the way we play football. Let’s put it this way, we play it different than a lot of other teams. We like to attack. Why? Because it’s the nicest way to play the game. Attacking football, played with joy, gave the Netherlands their prominent position in world football. This attitude you also can find back in my foundation. One of the basic goals of the Johan Cruyff Foundation is to give children with lesser opportunities in life a chance to improve their lives by sport. The Cruyff Courts even created more opportunities. Because next to participating in sports, it learns people to take responsibility towards friends, neighbours and strangers, as the Courts are open for everyone. Together you play and to enjoy playing creates a mental satisfaction, which is the greatest victory we can gain. Therefore my message is to enjoy football, to enjoy life and to give joy.
