Cruyff Court Ibrahim Afellay
As Talent of the Year 2006-2007, Ibrahim Afellay won the Johan Cruyff Prize. This award is given to a young talented player, which is not only on the a talented player, but also very socially involved. That price is not only a beautiful statue, the winner will also gets the chance to realize a Cruyff Court in his name at a location of choice.
Ibrahim Afellay has chosen in this context a Cruyff Court in northern Morocco. The roots of the family Afellay located in the coastal town of Al Hoceima. Much of the family is still living here. In 2009 the Court Cruyff was officially opened by Ibrahim Afellay.
Ibrahim was welcomed as the child of Hoceima. The super hero of the children of this North African city. "I never expected this. I am very proud that I can do this back to my homeland. It was a chaotic, strange, but most special and impressive experience. This football field is much more than just a pitch." Thus Afellay.
The Cruyff Court Ibrahim Afellay was developed through a close collaboration between local government of Al Hoceima, the Maroquistars, the Dutch Embassy in Morocco and the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
